In this talk I will share my journey as a concept artist, detailing how I transitioned from an unsatisfying job to freelancing in the entertainment sector. I describe my early projects, such as Quodd Heroes and Maya the Bee, and the lessons learned in design, teamwork, and adapting to different genres. The talk then shifts to a discussion on keyframes, emphasizing their role in storytelling and design, while also highlighting the importance of a versatile portfolio that showcases both artistic and design skills to thrive in a competitive industry. Lastly, I will touch on personal pieces and what mistakes to avoid while working on them.
Would you believe, I am here because I have met a stranger on a pirate ship? We are making connections all our life; meeting new colleagues, strangers on the street, neighbours. You will never know who you’re going to meet next. I want to show you how important the connections are, how they open doors, how they help you to grow and how they lead to opportunities. Through personal stories I want to demonstrate how big (small) the industry is and will take the audience on an adventure through time explaining the biz dev process using first hand experiences by making friends, professionally.

I will go through my process of developing a realistic character design. I will cover the key elements that, for me, make or break a good character design, and then explain the steps I take to reach the final result. During this stage, attendees will see how and when I apply 3D and 2D techniques, when to use photos, and what key elements of design, volume and form are used as guidelines throughout the process. Above all, I will share my set rules for keeping everything intuitive to achieve the best result while still being artistic during the process.
